The Monday Morning Power Digest: May 2, 2022
Big players make big plays.
This is the MMPD’s Flu Game. I just spent 72 hours in St. Louis for a wedding (congrats Chris and Lizzie). Rehearsal Thursday (odd, but didn’t hate it), heavy hotel drinking Friday, ceremony-pics-party bus-more pics-party bus-reception Saturday and the kicker: a 4 a.m. Sunday wakeup call to make it back to KC for a charity golf scramble with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. We shot a -13 and I lost five balls holed two solo birdies. Quite simply, it was the performance of a lifetime.
Now before we get to gettin’, give the MMPD a like by tapping the heart icon up there, get subscribed if you haven’t already, share with a friend or colleague who may find this to be of value.
Now, let’s unscramble my hungover brain and dive in.
The Beginner’s Guide To Becoming An Elite Party Bus DJ
For my entire adult life, I’ve been told I’m a great DJ. Every party bus, wedding shuttle, party cove trip, I find myself on the aux at the request of many. It’s a tremendous amount of pressure. All eyes are on you and one false step, you’re exiled out of bluetooth connectivity range.
The best advice I can give is simply to commit to a genre that suits your audience and then run it into the ground. Once you feel like the momentum has shifted, switch up the genre and run the group’s energy back up.
I’ve boiled it down to a simple three-step process:
Read the room
Pick a genre and wear it out

Throwback Blog of the Week
“While I appreciate the elegance and prestige of being a groomsman or close family relative of the bridal party, I also appreciate a good low-key buzz and zero pressure environment where I am allowed to thrive, or simply fade into the background while you enjoy the best night of your life.”
